I started potting in 1974, learning from Brian McCombe (time served with Marianne De Trey and assistant to Emmanuel Cooper) at the Salisbury Centre in Edinburgh. I was then taught by John Davey of Bridge of Dee in south-west Scotland for a short time. I try to make simple, warm, useful pots that are good to look at, well made and feel good to use.

I was born in Japan and started learning how to throw in the early 1990s, joining Paul in the Meadows Pottery in 1993. I try to make pots which people are happy to use every day.
